I was asked to photograph a wedding reception for some friends recently. Event photography is not one of my favorite types of photography because lighting, lack of control of background elements and movement are always a big challenge. However, it can be a lot of fun and stimulating for the creative processes. One really important thing to remember is to pay attention. You need to watch for the obvious candid shots of dancing, cutting cake, people interacting with each other and other normal event shots. But it’s also important to make sure you watch for those things that are unexpected. In this case, there was some “unplanned time” in between events that provided a priceless shot. I would have never had a chance to get this shot if I failed to “pay attention.”
I love this photograph of an old Chevy Camaro badge. Before I was even old enough to drive I would dream of riding in one of these. (OK, I still dream of riding or driving one of these.)
Just created a new gallery of images of antique cars on my new website. Hope you enjoy them.
